山不在高，有仙则名。水不在深，有龙则灵。斯是陋室，惟吾德馨。苔痕上阶绿，草色入廉青。谈笑有鸿儒，往来无白丁。可以调素琴，阅金经。无丝竹之乱耳，无案牍之劳形。南阳诸葛庐，西蜀子云亭。孔子云：“何陋之有？”




译文：

山不一定要高，有仙人（居住）就能天下闻名；水不一定要深，有龙（居住）就能降福显灵。这（虽）是间简陋的房子，好在主人有美好的德行。苔藓给阶前铺上绿毯，芳草把帘内映得碧青。谈笑的是渊博的学者，往来的没有浅薄的人。可以弹奏素朴的古琴，浏览珍贵的佛经。没有（嘈杂的）音乐扰乱两耳，没有官府的公文劳累身心。（它好比）南阳诸葛亮的茅庐，西蜀扬子云的玄亭。孔子说：（虽然是陋室，但只要君子住在里面）有什么简陋的呢？

水陆草木之花，可爱者甚蕃。晋陶渊明独爱菊；自李唐来，世人盛爱牡丹；予独爱莲之出淤泥而不染，濯清涟而不妖，中通外直，不蔓不枝，香远益清，亭亭静植，可远观而不可亵玩焉。予谓菊，花之隐逸者也；牡丹，花之富贵者也；莲，花之君子者也。噫！菊之爱，陶后鲜有闻；莲之爱，同予者何人；牡丹之爱，宜乎众矣。

乐观人生

父亲欲对一对孪生兄弟作性格改造,因为其中一个过分乐观,而另一个则过分悲观。


一天,他买了许多色泽鲜艳的新玩具给悲观的孩子,又把乐观的孩子送进了一间堆满马粪的车房里。

第二天清晨,父亲看到悲观的孩子正泣不成生,便问：“为什麽不完那些新玩具哪？”

“玩了会坏的。”孩子仍在哭泣。

父亲叹了口气，走进了车房，却发现那乐观的孩子正兴高采烈地在马粪里掏什么。

“告诉你，爸爸，”那孩子得意洋洋地向父亲宣称“：我想马粪里一定还藏着一匹小马呢！”


悲观的人先被自己打败，然后被生活打败，乐观的人先战胜自己，然后才战胜生活。悲观的人受的痛苦有限，前途也有限，乐观的人所受的磨难无量，前途业无量。悲观是一种毁灭，乐观是一种拯救。
